Travel Visa Information
Lithuania is an EU member country and Schengen Area member. Citizens of EU countries and 30 other states, including Australia, USA, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, etc., can stay in the Schengen Area for a period of 90 days without a special visa. Please find the list of countries, whose citizens do not require visas to enter the Republic of Lithuania, here. All foreign visitors entering Lithuania must have a valid passport.
Getting to Kaunas
From Kaunas Airport:
You can fly directly to Kaunas from 23 cities (check the timetables here).
Hop on bus #29* once you’ve landed – it’ll take you to the city center. Regular taxi service, TAXIFY app service and CityBee car sharing service are also available at the airport.
*Bus #29: once you have boarded public transportation, you can purchase a one-way ticket from the driver at a cost of 1 Eur. Bus times are available at bus stops or on the website www.trafi.com. The journey takes up to 45 minutes.
From Vilnius Airport: Kaunas is easily reachable by bus or train from Vilnius. In order to reach Vilnius bus or train station (both are at the same location) you need to take one of the following:
- Bus #1 or #3G
#1 – Runs every 40-50 minutes. #3G – Runs every 8-10 minutes. The schedule can be found at www.trafi.com.
- Shuttle train from airport to train station
Trains run approximately every 60 minutes. The schedule can be found at www.litrail.lt. Tickets can be purchased on the train or at Vilnius Railway Station. Distance from the airport to Vilnius Railway station is about 5 km, the journey takes up to 8 minutes.
- Bus #1 or #3G
You can buy bus or train tickets to Kaunas at the station counters or online at www.traukiniobilietas.lt (for train) and www.autobusobilietai.lt (for buses). Žalgirio Arena or Laisvės alėja, the main street in Kaunas, is a 15-20 minute walk away from the Kaunas bus station and Kaunas railway station.
During your Stay
To avoid the cues and traffic we recommend using public transportation when traveling to the arena. When you reach the arena surrounding bus stops: Gedimino St., Studentų Skveras or Griunvaldo St. there is only a 10-15 minute walk to the Arena.
Žalgirio Arena is located in the city center within walking distance from most of the hotels.
